East View Information Services (EVIS), headquartered in Minneapolis, MN, is a leading provider of native and translated world language products and services, including Slavic, Chinese, and Arabic databases, e-books, print periodicals and books. We serve all geographies and many market segments, including academic institutions, government organizations, corporations, public and federal libraries, and law firms.

As a world language materials provider, East View is in the process of expanding our technical services including full cataloging, shelf-ready processing and metadata creation across multiple product lines and formats. 

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Manager/Librarian for Cataloging and Metadata Services to lead and oversee the cataloging and metadata functions of our company. This position plays a key role in ensuring bibliographic accuracy, optimizing metadata standards, and supporting seamless discovery and access to library resources. The ideal candidate will have expertise in metadata creation, authority control, and cataloging practices, along with strong leadership and collaborative skills.

This is a full-time position with a flexible work model between in-office and remote work, but with the expectation of working in the office at least three days a week.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the Cataloging and Metadata Services team, including staff supervision, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Manage a team of librarians and catalogers to provide full cataloging, shelf-ready and other technical services (binding, EDI, etc.) to academic, public, and governmental libraries.
  • Oversee creating of metadata for print books and e-books, serials, maps, atlases, databases, etc.
  • Unify EVIS metadata standards across all product lines and EVIS proprietary software.
  • Provide quality metadata and shelf-ready services to customers according to their requirements while using EVIS proprietary software and other tools.
  • Lead or support EVIS project management teams and cross-divisional projects with ongoing metadata creation and management.
  • Collaborate with technical services, acquisitions, and digital initiative teams to ensure efficient metadata workflows.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends and best practices in metadata standards, linked data, and digital resource management.
  • Participate in professional development activities, committees, and relevant library associations.
  • Maintain and build strong relationships with customers, business partners and other EVIS teams.
Knowledge, Skills/Abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of contemporary bibliographic-maintenance standards and practice, including MARC21, RDA, AACR2, Dewey Decimal Classification, Library of Congress subject headings, OCLC/MARC records, and library automation.
  • Extensive experience with the Microsoft Suite of software including but not limited to Excel, Power Point, and Word.
  • Experience with integrated library systems (ILS) and library discovery platforms.
  • Experience in developing training and workflow documentation for both internal and external users.
  •  Ability to communicate clearly in person and in writing, particularly about library priorities, services, and standards.
  • Creative problem solving and process-improvement skills.
  • Foster independent work in an adaptable, innovative, and collaborative work unit.
  • Coordinate, lead, and facilitate multiple projects across different departments and divisions while meeting deadlines and stakeholder expectations.
  • Ability to adjust and redefine operations and workflows to meet changing needs and demands.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for library-related conferences. 
Qualifications
  • Master of Library & Information Science (MLIS, MLS, MSLS) degree from an ALA-accredited institution.
  • 3 years of management experience in cataloging, metadata creation and bibliographic control in an academic, public, or special library setting.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Prior experience and/or training in library technical services functions is a plus.
  • English proficiency required, secondary language skill/experience a plus.

Pay: $80,000 - $90,000 annual
