The Cataloging and Metadata Librarian is responsible for creating, maintaining, and enhancing bibliographic and metadata records for library resources in various formats. This role ensures that all materials are accurately described and accessible through the library’s catalog and discovery systems. The librarian works with metadata standards, controlled vocabularies, and classification schemes to optimize resource discovery and access.
This is a full-time position with a flexible work model between in-office and remote work, but with the expectation of working in the office at least three days a week.

Key Responsibilities:
- Coordination of creation of original and copy cataloging for books, serials, electronic resources, and other materials using MARC, RDA, and AACR2 standards.
- Provide quality MARC records, metadata and shelf-ready services to customers according to their requirements while using EVIS proprietary software and other tools.
- Perform batch processing, record imports, and deduplication in the EVIS proprietary software
- Work with OCLC Connexion, WorldCat, and other bibliographic utilities for data management.
- Develop and implement metadata standards and best practices for library materials.
- Enhance and maintain bibliographic records to improve discoverability and user access.
- Collaborate with external partners on metadata-related initiatives.
- Monitor and resolve metadata-related issues in collaboration with digital initiatives and IT teams.
- Providing customer service and problem resolution with librarians
- Provide training and support to staff on cataloging tools, metadata standards, and best practices.
- Other tasks as assigned by the department Manager
Required:
- Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent.
- Experience with MARC, RDA, AACR2, LCSH, LCC, and DDC.
- Knowledge of ILS systems (e.g., Alma, Koha, Sierra, etc.), OCLC Connexion, and metadata management tools.
- Desire to learn new skills related to the role including new software
- Strong attention to detail especially rules-sets for bibliographic data.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Business English proficiency required, secondary language skill/experience a plus.
Preferred:
- Experience with linked data, authority control, and metadata automation.
- Knowledge of BIBFRAME is a plus.
- Contribute to the development of library policies and procedures for metadata management.
